Morning Session: Adjustment to the Challenges of Living with Vison Loss: How You Can Help.
Presenter: James Badger M.ED. VRT
This presentation explores the process of adjustment to life with vision loss and blindness, outlining helpful strategies and interventions that may be utilized to assist individuals as they engage in this process. We will emphasize the particular challenges encountered by children, adolescents and their families. Discussion will include how vison professionals and educators can help to facilitate positive changes.
Afternoon Session: Are We Doing Enough Preparing our Students for Technology Demands and Expectations of College?

College Bound Students with Blindness and Visual impairments are expected to arrive at college with a virtual toolbox of skills. College Disability Services Offices, while providing accessible materials, do not support students in onboarding via college websites, learning platforms and other web-based, and computer based technologies. This presentation will explore some of the reasons that our students only have a 40% graduation rate. Lessons learned from the “College Success” program regarding tech expectations for college level studies, will be discussed.
