SUMMARY:Consultation Station postponed!
DESCRIPTION:POSTPONED! New date TBD! \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nKirsten Connelly\, from Catholic Charities in Maine\, will share a consultation tool she and her team developed. In her first two years as Assistant Program Director\, Kirsten observed that some reports describing consultation lacked depth or clear evidence of how a student’s functional vision impacted educational planning. In response\, she convened a committee of TVIs to develop a more structured approach to consultation\, with the goal of strengthening support for student teams. The result of this work is Consultation Station. \n\n\n\nKirsten will present for approximately 30 minutes\, followed by a collaborative discussion where participants can share consultation techniques and strategies they use in their own practice. \n\n\n\nThis session will serve as a nice follow-up to Tom Miller’s presentation on March 11. More details\, including the link to join\, will be shared on the AMESVI listserv. Contact Lynn Shortis (westerncentralrep@amesvi.org) with questions.

SUMMARY:Western/Central Ma AI Training (Remote)
DESCRIPTION:Presenter: Bill Hersh\, Massachusetts Commission for the Blind \n\n\n\n“…..We’ve all seen how new technology can be a game-changer. Just like the transition to Windows (which was initially met with apprehension)\, AI is receiving some mixed reviews; however\, it is here to stay\, and our clients are already using it. My client\, Jen\, exemplifies the power AI can bring to consumers who choose to use it. Jen used ChatGPT to obtain the necessary instructions to update her software independently. I scheduled her appointment about three weeks in advance. She chose to tackle it with the help of a chatbot. She emailed me a few days after we scheduled\, “Ha! Never mind – I did it – totally by myself! Yay! I am so proud. Well\, I did use ChatGPT – the instructions it gave on how to do the update and installation were very helpful. Whoohoo!” \n\n\n\nThis kind of independence is precisely what we’re here to foster. \n\n\n\nOur goal for this meeting is to have an open\, honest conversation. We should share our thoughts\, concerns\, and ideas on how to utilize these new tools best to serve our clients and make our work more efficient. \n\n\n\nThis training is open to western/central region members. Please RSVP to Lynn at westerncentralrep@amesvi.org for meeting link
